You are very sensible. Flies and caterpillars are very good for you. But slugs are best. They are an excellent source of Vitamin D. This is the vitamin we get in sunshine, so in this weather it is essential that everyone eats a whole load of slugs. Especially children, and people with low immune systems. Just imagine your audience naked and the nerves will dissolve. (ah slight problem . . .you don't know what half of them look like).
